We are experts in and globally recognized for our specialized Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Orthopedic Surgery programs. Specialties utilizing the Main Operating Room/Cysto are General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Otolaryngology, Lasers, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery and Orthopaedics - both Reconstructive and Sarcoma. The Main Operating Room has 3 state-of-the-art Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) suites. This team has sponsorship opportunities available for nurses interested in obtaining OR certification. Requirements
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor’s degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Successful completion of a post graduate Perioperative Nursing Certificate program
- Commitment to professional practice and personal development

- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
Nice To Haves
- 3 years’ experience in a Perioperative setting
- A baccalaureate degree from a CNO-approved nursing program
Responsibilities
- Perform scrubbing and circulating duties
- Provide direct nursing care to patients within the OR
- Work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary health care team
- Facilitate the clinical needs of the surgeons’ and anesthesia in the OR
- Effectively manage a workload within a fast-paced environment
- Anticipate, recognize and address rapidly changing situations
- Document observations, assessments and care provision
- Collect information from a variety of sources using skills of observation, communication and physical assessment to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care
- Maintain clinical competence and knowledge base through continued education and life-long learning
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned and/or requested
