About The Position

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of care to patients undergoing operative and invasive procedures. The professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team. As an integral member of the health care team, coordinates patient care and communicates and collaborates extensively with the other members of the healthcare team, patients and/or patient's family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Must possess licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
  • Completion of a BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association), and IV certification.
  • Must have 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Influenza Vaccinations are a requirement for employment. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date, during the influenza season, if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical exemption.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous general, orthopedic, vascular and endoscopic surgery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients before surgery and alleviate their concerns
  • Gather all supplies needed for the operation
  • Keep operating room sterilized
  • Position and prepare patient on the operating table
  • Pass medical instruments or other objects/supplies to the surgeon during operation
  • Monitor patient vital signs to detect anomalies
  • Evaluate patient in post-operative phases
  • Adhere to safety standards and precautions
