We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Program. This is a newly developed program, in pilot for 3 years. The Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) RN will provide high quality, patient-centered care to adults with treatment resistant mental disorders who have been prescribed rTMS. RNs within this team will also be involved in monitoring patient outcomes and helping to develop standard operating procedures for this new clinic. This position also supports other areas of the Adult Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. Employment Status: Temporary Full Time Duration: November 2026 (subject to change per management right) Location: Humber River Health, Wilson (Cross Site Coverage may be required – Must be willing to work on all Mental Health Units) Hours of work: Day shift Monday to Friday, some evenings may be required (subject to change as per Article B – Management Functions)Hourly Rate Range: $41.15 - $58.98 Employee Group: ONA Reporting Relationship: Manager, Mental Health

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Nursing (BScN) preferred
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current BCLS/CPR certification required
  • Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire, required
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience working in a mental health setting required
  • Certification in Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or willingness to obtain when eligible to do so, required
  • Experience working with patients with anxiety and depression required
  • Excellent assessment skills, including demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention and ability to respond appropriately to a crisis
  • Demonstrated skills in clinical interviewing and history taking
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act required
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demands
  • Demonstrates a high level of initiative, adaptability, and self-direction
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Excellent attendance and a discipline free record is required (candidates are required to inform HR and the hiring manager of their attendance and discipline status)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills, with an ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with assisting patients to complete psychiatric rating scales preferred
  • An awareness and knowledge/experience in Trauma Informed Care preferred
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding in working with individuals from different cultures
  • Technology literacy and usage skills preferred. E.g., MS Teams, Microsoft 365 Email
  • Knowledge of severe and persistent mental illnesses, experience administering long-acting injections (LAIs) preferred
  • Very good knowledge of related community resources an asset

Responsibilities

  • Review all new referrals for outpatient rTMS treatment
  • Communicate with psychiatrist and clerical team to support booking
  • Administer rTMS treatments, monitor patient outcomes, and complete documentation
  • Collaborate with team in creating standard operating procedures for new rTMS program
  • Ensure necessary rTMS supplies are ordered and available
  • Provide coverage to other areas of the Outpatient Mental Health program as needed.
