About The Position

The Oncology Department is a 27-bed medical/oncology unit that provides care to adult and geriatric medical oncology patients, surgical gynecology patients, sickle cell patients, and in-patient hospice patients. Most patients have a primary and/or secondary diagnosis of cancer and require treatment of chronic and episodic illness, therapeutic interventions, and side effect management. Care is also provided to patients in the terminal phase of illness. Unique services provided include chemotherapy administration and side-effect management, blood administration, management of oncologic emergencies, pain management, psychosocial and spiritual care, and inpatient hospice care. This role involves evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care. The nurse will deliver excellent nursing care through evaluations, planning, implementation, and documentation while serving a diverse patient population with complex concerns. The role also includes performing various patient tests, administering medications within the scope of practice, and promoting patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. The nurse will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • PA Registered Nurse Temporary Practice Permit or Registered Nurse License
