About The Position

Our Oncology unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. We are looking for individuals who want to increase their knowledge base, as our leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member. The patient population consists of a majority of medical patients, with a mixture of medical and surgical oncology patients. We occasionally administer IV chemotherapy. The unit has 16 beds and a patient ratio of 1:4. We are a Commission on Cancer recognized hospital and a Sammons Cancer Center, providing care for patients with the availability of Nurse Navigators, Child Life Specialists, and a fully staffed Supportive and Palliative Care Team. We strive to get all our nurses chemotherapy certified within the first 6 months of employment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Acute Care, Med Surg hospital RN experience
  • Graduated from an Accredited Program
  • Specialized field of study in nursing
  • RN license
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting

Responsibilities

  • Administer IV chemotherapy
  • Provide care for medical and surgical oncology patients
  • Participate in Nurse Navigator, Child Life Specialist, and Supportive and Palliative Care Team initiatives
  • Obtain chemotherapy certification within the first 6 months of employment
