Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology - Day Shift
About The Position
ChristianaCare Hospital, located in Newark, DE, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our 6E Oncology Unit. As an oncology nurse, you will implement a relationship-based care model that focuses on building strong connections with patients, families, and colleagues. This approach is guided by our core values of love and excellence. Unit 6E is a 38-bed inpatient unit specializing in hematology and oncology. It provides both scheduled and emergency care and procedures 24/7. This unit is designed to accommodate patients who require inpatient care for their diagnoses or for managing symptoms related to their treatments. The services provided on 6E include various treatments such as cancer diagnoses, chemotherapy administration, and medical management of conditions like febrile neutropenia, uncontrolled pain, and nausea/vomiting. The patient population in this unit consists of both adult and geriatric patients, with conditions classified as either stable or serious. Patients are received, transferred, or admitted from a variety of sources, including their homes, the emergency department, physicians' offices, and other units within the hospital.
Requirements
- DE RN License or a Compact RN License.
- BSN or commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of hire date.
- BLS required.
- 1-2 years of experience in med/surg preferred.

Responsibilities
- Implement a relationship-based care model focusing on building strong connections with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Provide scheduled and emergency care and procedures on a 38-bed inpatient hematology and oncology unit.
- Administer treatments including chemotherapy.
- Manage medical conditions such as febrile neutropenia, uncontrolled pain, and nausea/vomiting.
- Care for adult and geriatric patients with stable or serious conditions.
