Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology - (Part-Time)
About The Position
Sentara Health is currently hiring for an RN to join the 2S Oncology team at Virginia Beach General Hospital. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week on the night shift. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role also involves coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and adherence to standards of professional performance such as ethics, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess the clinical knowledge and skills required for specific clinical areas. The 2 South Oncology unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is a 26-bed unit specializing in leukemia and lymphoma treatment, radiation, gynecologic cancers, hematologic disorders, and end-of-life care.
Requirements
- ADN required
- Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- Experienced RN's and New grads welcome!

Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
- Adhere to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
- Provide exceptional, quality care to patients on the 2 South Oncology unit.
- Work with all cancers, specializing in leukemia and lymphoma treatment, radiation, gynecologic cancers, hematologic disorders, and end of life patients.
