About The Position

Citizens Health is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to work in the oncology and IV therapy department at Citizens Medical Center. This role is crucial in enhancing the lives of patients by providing compassionate, evidence-based care. Citizens Health is a community-based, private, not-for-profit organization that includes a critical access hospital, outpatient clinic, skilled nursing facility, childcare center, medical equipment business, and an outpatient pharmacy. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Kansas Board of Nursing.
  • Successful completion of Citizens Medical Center’s nursing orientation program specific to that unit prior to responsibility for patient care. General hospital orientation completed.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Chemotherapy certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationship with personnel in other departments.
  • Ability to provide direction in application of nursing process, quality improvement standard, organization and departmental goals and objectives, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Possess interpersonal skills needed to function in a ‘team’ setting.
  • Be a self-starter who takes initiative, is open minded and a team player.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with good energy.
  • Create a positive, supportive working atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients.
  • Administer cancer treatments.
  • Explain the treatments and answering questions for patients.
  • Manage the side effects of cancer treatments and helping manage pain.
  • Monitor vitals of patients.
  • Coordinate the patient’s care with all other providers.
  • Support the emotional well-being of patients.
  • Provide information on resources for family members.
  • Maintain strict HIPAA, HPI and Confidentiality.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
