About The Position

The Perinatal Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse assigned to the Perinatal Services Unit, responsible for the direct delivery of patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to a specific group of ante partum, laboring and delivering, recovering, and post partum mothers, as well as their newborns. The Perinatal Nurse coordinates care in collaboration with the family, significant others, physicians, and other health care providers. The activity demonstrates a commitment and understanding of the philosophy of family centered care. The Perinatal Nurse is trained and able to initiate, modify, or stop treatment when appropriate and according to established protocols, even when a physician is not present. The perinatal Nurse demonstrates proficiency in advanced nursing skills and correct use of appropriate equipment. The LDRP/Perinatal Nurse is cross-oriented and capable of providing nursing care in the well-baby and continuing care nurseries.
