About The Position

Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast paced 24 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team, complemented by classroom courses, and a nurse residency program for new graduates. Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required
  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
  • New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
  • Previous hospital experience helpful preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
  • Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
  • Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy
  • Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions
  • Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed.

  • $42/hr. flat rate
  • Evening differential $2.50/hr.
  • Night differential $3.00/hr.
