About The Position

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The Observation unit is a fast paced 6-8 bed unit, with potential to expand, caring for patients under 24–48-hour observation. The patient population typically includes short stay treatments, including TIA workups, stress tests, and radiology procedures. The goal is to prepare the patients for discharge within 24 hours or less, or work with the physician team to upgrade the patient's status. Sentara Virginia Beach General is recognized as a stroke center and holds magnet designation for excellence in patient care. We are seeking experienced candidates to join this team-oriented unit!

Requirements

  • ADN required
  • Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • RN experience in a hospital setting.
  • Experience in a Med/Surg, Stepdown, IMCU

  • BSN or higher preferred
