About The Position

This is a Variable Full-Time Registered Nurse position on the Nights shift (7pm - 7am) in the STC Observation Unit at Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital. The hospital is an 84-bed acute-care community hospital offering comprehensive emergency, inpatient, and outpatient care, with specialties including cardiology, critical care, infectious disease, orthopedics, radiology, and surgical services. The ER features a designated geriatric section, and the hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Primary Stroke Center Accreditation. The campus also includes Outpatient Rehabilitation Services and a Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center. Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital has been recognized nationally as an outstanding employer, receiving Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work award multiple times. The newly established Observation Unit is an 8-bed, telemetry-capable unit designed for short-stay patient care (typically less than 48 hours), where patients require additional monitoring and treatment before discharge. Nurses on this unit collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to determine the most appropriate next step in care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.
  • Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 1+ year of RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Tele / Telemetry experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient’s needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses. Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attaining expected outcomes.
  • Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  • Functions as a patient and family advocate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit/department.
  • Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  • Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.
  • Serves as a role model for staff and supports the hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses the data reflective of the patient’s status, and interprets the necessary information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs.
