About The Position

As a Registered Nurse in our Observation/Short Stay Unit, you'll deliver compassionate, efficient care to patients requiring brief hospitalization and close monitoring. Using Relationship-Based Care principles, you'll build strong connections with patients, families, and the care team while managing rapid patient flow and dynamic clinical situations.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• American Heart Association or American Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Current ACLS or obtain within six (6) months.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and continuous observation of patients, quickly identifying changes in condition and responding with clinical judgment appropriate to the short-stay setting.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize timely diagnosis, treatment, and safe discharge within the observation timeframe.
• Provide hands-on nursing care, administer medications and treatments, and educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care.
• Supervise and coordinate with healthcare team members, communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary staff, and contribute to a cohesive care environment.
• Apply current clinical evidence and best practices to optimize patient outcomes and maintain quality standards specific to observation care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned to support unit operations.
