About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The nurse will be responsible for medication administration, developing and documenting patient care plans, ensuring patient safety and quality, engaging in professional development, utilizing technology, adhering to compliance standards, and practicing patient and family-centered care. The position requires an understanding of age and cultural awareness in patient interactions.

Requirements

  • RN - Registered Nurse
  • Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Depending on department: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Emergency Response Training Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) Certification may be required

Responsibilities

  • Administering medications, including reconciliation and narcotic management.
  • Developing, documenting, and evaluating individualized patient care plans.
  • Initiating admission assessments and identifying patient/family teaching needs.
  • Continuously assessing and reassessing patient care needs.
  • Documenting all patient care according to hospital policy, unit standards, and disease processes.
  • Assessing and documenting patient comfort and response to interventions.
  • Advocating for patients and families and raising ethical concerns.
  • Communicating the plan of the day and facilitating discharge/transfer.
  • Verifying patient identification and ensuring patient safety prior to procedures.
  • Complying with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and universal precautions.
  • Ensuring the environment meets regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrating understanding of roles in hospital codes and emergency preparedness.
  • Incorporating evidence-based practice and performance improvement into nursing practice.
  • Obtaining continuing education contact hours.
  • Practicing within the legal boundaries of the MA Nurse Practice Act.
  • Directing other licensed and non-licensed personnel as assigned.
  • Accepting and responding appropriately to feedback.
  • Demonstrating professional working relationships with colleagues.
  • Utilizing critical thinking to analyze problems, identify solutions, and communicate effectively.
  • Staying informed about changes in hospital policy and procedure.
