About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking passionate, experienced nurses and upcoming/recent RN graduates to join their team and collaborate with top medical professionals. The Level III NICU, located in the Perinatal & Pediatric Services Center at Bloomington Hospital, has 21 beds and cares for babies 26 weeks gestation and above, with a focus on premature babies and newborns. The unit utilizes state-of-the-art technology, having been established in December 2021, to provide the best possible patient care. Nurses on this unit will gain valuable experience and certifications, including NIC and IBCLC, and exposure to Pediatrics, L&D, and NICU patient populations. The unit offers a dynamic, fast-paced, and rewarding environment with friendly staff who encourage growth and development, aiming for team members to succeed and grow in their careers.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Responsibilities

  • Obtain your NIC and IBCLC certifications
  • Gain exposure to Pediatrics, L&D, and NICU patient populations
  • Refine time management skills by balancing patient to nurse ratios
  • Develop the clinical technical capabilities to develop your career
  • All shifts will be required to pick up 2 on call shifts every 6-weeks.
