About The Position

The Quentin & Elisabeth Alexander Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital represents the highest standard of NICU design, technology and clinical practice. Our Level IV NICU, is the highest level certified by the state of Ohio and the only comprehensive IV NICU in NEO. We have proudly held this designation for over two decades. Staffed and equipped to care for critically ill infants in need of emergency surgery or low birth weight babies born weighing less than two pounds, our unit unites advanced technology, the latest research and ranked clinical services in a homelike environment that has been pioneered by our team. As a part of our award winning team, you will provide care for your baby, carefully watch for any changes, give medicines, and partner with other NICU team members to work together with parents to create a plan of care for your high-risk newborn.

Requirements

  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, ADN, or MN required
  • 1 year of inpatient RN experience required.
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)

Nice To Haves

  • NICU or Newborn experience preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.

  • Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.
  • Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing.
  • Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
