Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a Part Time Registered Nurse for the NICU. This position involves working 2 days a week, every weekend, on the night shift. The role requires assessing patient needs, developing and revising care plans, and evaluating patient progress. The nurse will function as a patient and family advocate, demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served. Responsibilities include serving as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician, and collaborating with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team. The nurse will also coordinate care, delegate tasks, and document patient care accurately. Competency in nursing skills and equipment use is essential, as is prioritizing patient care based on evidence-based practice. The role involves effective problem-solving, delegating tasks appropriately, and communicating patient information. The nurse will foster a compassionate and therapeutic environment, demonstrating awareness of legal issues and patient rights. Collaboration with the education department and nursing leadership is expected for onboarding new team members and students. The position requires regular attendance and compliance with all hospital policies. The professional nurse contributes to the knowledge and skills of others, participates in continuous improvement, and may lead committees related to nursing practice and performance improvement. Peer review, mentoring, and coaching are also part of the role. Efficient use of supplies, maintaining a clean work area, and attending staff development and meetings are expected. The nurse will partner with leadership to identify professional development needs and assume responsibility for their own continuing education. All other duties as assigned.
