About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 12-bed Neuro ICU on D4/4 at Wisconsin's #1 hospital. The unit cares for complex and critically ill adult patients within the neuro specialty, including those with neurological, neurosurgical, and stroke conditions. Nurses on this unit utilize strong critical thinking skills and provide interventions such as vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, feeding tubes, drains, and frequent neuro assessments. The team is dynamic and supportive, and integral to the nationally recognized neuroscience programs.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
  • ACLS within 6 months

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Relevant RN experience
  • Relevant certification

Responsibilities

  • Care for the adult patient population in a critical care setting with ICU as well as IMC level of care.
  • Gain experience with a variety of neurology, neurosurgical and stroke conditions that can include ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injuries, hydrocephalus, cerebral aneurysm, and other neurovascular diseases.
  • Utilize strong critical thinking skills and provide interventions that may include vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, feeding tubes, drains, frequent neuro assessments, and more.
