About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuroscience ICU. This is a full-time position (36 hr/week) with a rotating shift. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. The Neuroscience Critical Care Unit is a specialized unit providing intensive care for patients with severe, life-threatening neurological conditions, such as strokes, brain hemorrhages, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, tumors, and seizures. This unit uses a multidisciplinary team, advanced monitoring technology like continuous EEG monitoring, and intracranial pressure monitoring, and coordinated care to stabilize and support patients, leading to improved survival and functional outcomes.

Requirements

  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year emergency, intermediate care, intensive care or med/surg highly preferred
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
