About The Position

The Neuro Critical Care (NCC) unit at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, cares for patients with brain injuries, aneurysms, and severe strokes. NCC is a large, 33-bed unit with a diverse patient population and high acuity, providing 24/7 customized and monitored treatments. The team embraces teamwork, complexity, and advocates for the best possible patient outcomes, evidenced by exceptional quality data.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Care for patients suffering from brain injury, aneurysms, and severe strokes.
  • Provide emergency services and 24/7 customized and monitored treatments to help patients recover from serious neurological conditions.
  • Utilize excellent assessment skills, critical thinking, and prioritization of care.
  • Perform neurological assessments.
