About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Texas Health Dallas is responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning care, intervening appropriately, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient information needs, and maintaining continuity of patient care across shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The Neuro Progressive Care Unit is a 35-bed Cardiac/Neuro Intermediate Unit specializing in neurological conditions, spinal surgeries, and cardiovascular patient care in a high-acuity telemetry/PCU setting with standard nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1, potentially up to 5:1 depending on acuity.

Requirements

  • Diploma of Nursing OR Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Required
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care.
  • Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted OR Nursing Diploma
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (AHA) upon hire Required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI-Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 60 days of hire is required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Preferred
  • (1) year Stepdown, Progressive Care or Intermediate (Tele) Care RN experience or three (2) years of Telemetry experience in an acute care hospital preferred
  • PCCN-Progressive Care Certified Nurse is preferred not required
  • SCRN - Stroke Certified Registered Nurse is preferred not required
