About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuroscience ICU. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care, adhering to the critical thinking model of the nursing process, and upholding standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation). The role also encompasses standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills specific to the clinical area. The Neuroscience Critical Care Unit is a specialized unit providing intensive care for patients with severe, life-threatening neurological conditions such as strokes, brain hemorrhages, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, tumors, and seizures. This unit utilizes a multidisciplinary team, advanced monitoring technology like continuous EEG and intracranial pressure monitoring, and coordinated care to stabilize and support patients, aiming for improved survival and functional outcomes.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing
  • Registered nursing License
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year emergency, intermediate care, intensive care or med/surg experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
