At UF Health Jacksonville, our Neuro ICU nurses provide highly specialized care for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions. As part of an academic health system, Level I Trauma Center, and comprehensive neuroscience program, Neuro ICU nurses work alongside nationally recognized physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient-centered care while advancing clinical excellence, education, and research. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and professional nursing standards. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients, including those with stroke, traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, seizures, spinal cord injuries, and other complex neurological conditions. The RN maintains accountability for assigned patients while coordinating care with physicians, advanced practice providers, technical nurses, patient care associates, and other members of the healthcare team. The RN functions as a patient advocate, promotes patient safety, and may serve as charge nurse when assigned.
