About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Clinical Practice Nurse - Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the health care team, and coordination of patient care and discharge.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
  • Current CRNM registration required.
  • Annual BLS Level C Registration/Re-Registration is required.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Recent O.R. nursing experience required.
  • Successful completion of the AORN Periop 101 on-line course within three months of the date of employment (if no previous Operating Room training/experience).
  • Successful completion of the WCCNEP EKG Course must be obtained when the opportunity to take the course is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and employer.
  • Adult Conscious Sedation/Procedural Sedation Education validation must be obtained when the opportunity is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and employer.
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Invasive Pressure monitoring experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated current perioperative nursing experience.
  • Successful completion of the AORN Periop 101 on-line course or equivalent Operating Room training/experience is preferred.
  • WCCNEP EKG course or equivalent preferred.
  • Conscious Sedation training preferred.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
