About The Position
Registered Nurse (RN) PRN III Nights – Mother Baby for Texas Health Alliance. This role is for a PRN Level III/per diem position on the Night Shift (7p – 7a). The Mother Baby Unit is a 40-bed Postpartum/Newborn, couplet care unit that averages between 170 to 200 deliveries per month. The unit also includes a 12-bed NICU/Neonatal ICU, 4 OB/ED bays, 14-bed LDR’s, and 2 OR suites. Texas Health Alliance is a Baby-friendly and Texas 10-step designated facility.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days of hire
- 1 Year Experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program Req
- Mother Baby experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
