About The Position

Texas Health Alliance is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse for their Mother Baby unit. This position is for the night shift and involves providing care to postpartum patients and newborns. The Mother Baby Unit is a 40-bed Postpartum/Newborn couplet care unit that handles an average of 170 to 200 deliveries per month. The unit also includes a 12-bed NICU, 4 OB/ED bays, 14 LDRs, and 2 OR suites. Texas Health Alliance is a Baby-friendly and Texas 10-step designated facility.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
• RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days of hire
• 1 Year Experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program Req

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• Mother Baby experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
