About The Position

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) on 1South is an 18-bed unit that prides itself on team cohesiveness. Patient care supervisors are readily available, and leadership of all levels has a strong daily presence. The unit is supportive of new graduates, with a culture that encourages teaching and ensures no one is left to work alone. The MICU has 11 beds and also emphasizes team cohesiveness, supervisor availability, and leadership presence. Similar to the 1South ICU, it fosters a teaching environment where new graduates are welcomed and supported.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
