About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct nursing care in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. This role is responsible for implementing and monitoring patient care plans, coordinating care among disciplines, and assessing discharge planning needs. The 1South ICU has 18 beds and emphasizes team cohesiveness, with readily available supervisors and leadership. The unit is welcoming to new graduates and fosters a supportive teaching environment.
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
