About The Position

This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments. The Registered Nurse assesses the patient’s condition and nursing care needs, sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients. The nurse develops individual nursing care plans, implements care plans and makes revisions as needed, and evaluates patient care outcomes. The role also involves administering medications, treatments and therapies, communicating with patients and overseeing the provision of care, and providing patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to their condition. Accurate documentation of nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given is essential. Additional responsibilities include maintaining facility equipment, supplies and work areas, assisting in the orientation of new employees, coordinating and supervising activities of employees and department operations, and participating in performance/process improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • 1 year or less experience
  • BCLS upon completion of hospital orientation
  • Current RN license in state of practice
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and react effectively to patient and family needs.
  • Critical thinking
  • Work well under pressure while keeping calm and maintaining customer focus

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • ACLS and PALS within six months of hire or transfer date to position
