About The Position
Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Medical-Surgical Unit in Suffolk, VA. This unit is described as a supportive environment ideal for both new graduates and experienced nurses, with a 21-bed capacity and a favorable RN-to-patient ratio. The hospital itself is a certified stroke center and a Magnet hospital, recognized for excellence in patient care. Sentara Obici Hospital offers various programs for nurses, including a Transition to Practice Program for those with less than 12 months of experience or transitioning to a new practice area, which includes general nursing orientation, specialty clinical track residency, professional development sessions, and mentoring. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards include ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess the clinical knowledge and skills required for specific clinical areas.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required (for experience)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
- 1 year of acute care (preferred)
- Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
- Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
- Adhere to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
- Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
