About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical Oncology unit at 16 James Hematology Oncology. The unit focuses on patients with diagnoses including Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Acute and Chronic Leukemias, Sickle Cell Disease, other non-hem cancers, and other benign hematology conditions. Special procedures and unit details include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, managing oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome), insulin drips, and heparin drips. There is a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls.

Requirements

MS/Tele skills
Telemetry interpretation of dysrhythmias
Telemetry monitoring on the unit
Use of Rapid Response Teams
Feeding tube care and management
IV therapy/Phlebotomy
Blood Product Administration
Central line blood draw
Peripheral Line Care/Management
PICC line management
Starting IVs
Computerized charting (EPIC)
BLS certification
ACLS certification
Medical Surgical experience required

Nice To Haves

Hematology Oncology experience preferred but not required
ONS Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Administer chemotherapy
Administer blood transfusions
Administer IV antibiotics

Implement patient fall prevention protocols
Perform MS/Tele monitoring
