About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse on Medical Surgical Oncology units (14 & 15W James). The unit cares for patients with mixed acuity, including PCU and MS levels. The role involves caring for patients with various diagnoses including Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Adult), Amyloidosis, Aplastic Anemia, Chronic Leukemia, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), Chronic Myeloid (Myelogenous) Leukemia, Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Myeloproliferative Disorders, and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Special procedures and unit details include care for patients undergoing Autologous Transplants, Syngeneic Transplants, Allogeneic Transplants, and CAR-T Therapy. The nurse will be expected to work either Day/Night rotations or Night shifts. Computerized charting using EPIC is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical and Oncology experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • EPIC experience required.
  • MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry) skills.
  • Telemetry monitoring skills.
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias skills.
  • Experience with Rapid Response Teams.
  • Experience with feeding tube care and management.
  • Experience with blood product administration.
  • Experience with central line blood draw.
  • Experience with peripheral line care/management.
  • Experience with PICC line management.
  • Experience with Nasal cannula administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Heme Onc experience is strongly preferred.
  • Chemo certification is NOT required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients with mixed acuity on a Medical-Surgical Oncology unit.
  • Administer care for patients undergoing Autologous Transplants, Syngeneic Transplants, and Allogeneic Transplants.
  • Provide care for patients undergoing CAR-T Therapy.
  • Monitor patients requiring Telemetry monitoring.
  • Interpret dysrhythmias.
  • Utilize Rapid Response Teams.
  • Manage feeding tubes.
  • Administer blood products.
  • Perform central line blood draws.
  • Provide care for peripheral lines and PICC lines.
  • Administer oxygen via nasal cannula.
  • Document patient care using EPIC.
