This role involves collaborating with physicians to develop and implement patient care plans aimed at returning patients to optimal health. The Registered Nurse provides direct bedside nursing care, executes medical orders, and oversees the work of nursing assistants and other ancillary staff. Key responsibilities include evaluating the effectiveness of care plans, delegating and coordinating nursing tasks, and facilitating patient conferences. The position also emphasizes teaching and mentoring new employees and students, functioning as a team leader for patient placement and assignments, and actively participating in unit quality initiatives. In the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), the nurse will manage critical care patients, including those requiring hemodynamic monitoring, administer high-risk medications, and manage patients with respiratory instability, including mechanical ventilation. Promoting compassion and a therapeutic environment is also a core aspect of the role.
