This role functions as a member of the health care team, observing and providing patient care and treatment for patients undergoing medical imaging tests and procedures. The registered nurse will deliver care through the nursing process, administering, monitoring, evaluating, and documenting patient outcomes during procedural sedations, general anesthesia, or other required diagnostic exams. The role involves providing nursing support for GI/GU, Interventional Room, CT, NM, MRI, and the Main Radiology Department, participating in cross-training within Medical Imaging Nursing, assisting with pre-admission and discharge processes, and being present in MI Procedure Rooms and participating in Medical Imaging/Radiation procedures while wearing lead apparel. The candidate will be a radiation worker.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Current Ontario Registration with the College of Nurses (Essential)
  • Minimum 3 years’ pediatric experience, or other appropriate combinations of education and experience along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered in lieu of stated experience and education (Essential)
  • CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Demonstrates Positive Interpersonal Skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated availability for the DI PSU (Essential)
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team approach (Essential)

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing support for GI/GU, Interventional Room, CT, NM, MRI, and the Main Radiology Department.
  • Participate in all aspects of cross training within Medical Imaging Nursing (MRI, CT, NM GI/GU and Interventional Room).
  • Assist staff with pre-admission and discharge processes for the multi-modality Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Be present in MI Procedure Rooms and participate in Medical Imaging/Radiation procedures wearing lead apparel.
  • Observe, provide patient care and treatment for patients undergoing medical imaging tests and procedures.
  • Administer, monitor, evaluate and document patient outcomes during procedural sedations, general anaesthesia or during any other required diagnostic exam.
