About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the 4 East Medical Surgical unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in caring for surgical patients that have had General Surgery, Gastrointestinal, OB-Gyn, Orthopedics, Vascular, Urology, Nephrology, and more. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is offered, plus relocation assistance if specified criteria are met. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. This role is part of a 10-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program focused on orientation and skill acquisition for Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support their transition to practice.

Requirements

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
• Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Master’s Degree in Nursing

Nice To Haves

• Previous acute care experience preferred
