RN - Registered Nurse - Med Surg
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical (Med Surg) department will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. This role involves implementing and monitoring patient care plans, recording and communicating patient condition, serving as a primary coordinator for interdisciplinary patient care, and assessing and coordinating patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team. The position is available for PRN Rotating Full Time Nights (6p to 6a) and Full Time Days (6a to 6p), with three 12-hour shifts per week. The work location is UAB St. Vincent’s Blount.
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
- One Year of Experience Required
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

- Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
