About The Position

This is a Per Diem (PRN) Registered Nurse position specializing in Medical Surgical care. The role involves administering patient care under physician direction, identifying and pursuing expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Responsibilities include reporting and recording the plan for care, nursing care provided, and patient responses. The nurse will provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures. This role requires organizing and prioritizing care based on patient/family needs, consulting with appropriate resources for complex cases, and fostering intra/interdepartmental communication. The nurse will synthesize data from complex situations to determine care priorities, assess and anticipate discharge needs, and communicate with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Developing relationships with patients and families to promote advocacy, fostering clinical and operational excellence through education and training, and promoting a safe hospital environment are also key aspects. Ensuring competency in all required skills and adhering to policies and processes are expected.

Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of acute care experience within your speciality within the last 5 years!!
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
  • Active and unencumbered North Carolina Board of Registered Nursing RN License
  • Active BLS Certification (AHA only)
  • Active ACLS Certification Required for RNs in SDU, L&D, ICU, Med/Surg, ED
  • Epic (Required) charting experience

  • Active PALS Certification Required in ED/ER
  • NIHSS Certification for Emergency Department only
  • NRP for Postpartum and L&D only
  • CPI Blue Card for ED/ER only
  • Negative TB within last 12 months
  • Hep B Series or Titer
  • MMR Series or Titer
  • Tdap Vaccine within last 10 years or Titer
  • Varicella Series or Titer

Responsibilities

  • Administers patient care under the direction of a physician.
  • Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient’s response to that care.
  • Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures.

  • Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning.
  • Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication.
  • Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs.
  • Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.
  • Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening.
  • Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs.
  • Develops clinical and operational excellence in self and in peers through education and training.
  • Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
  • Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist.
  • Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $41 to $45, based on shift and experience
