About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical position on the night shift at Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH). Located in Nashville, Tennessee, VUMC is a leading institution in patient care, education, and research. This role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will effectively communicate patient information to the healthcare team, collaborate on patient goals, and evaluate progress. The position is within the Vanderbilt Intermediate Care Program (VICP), which serves adult patients (18+) treated for multiple medical conditions, often with additional stressors such as being under-resourced, homeless, or having addiction issues. The VICP utilizes an interdisciplinary team to improve health, reduce emergency room dependence, and decrease hospital admissions. This is a full-time night shift position, working 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, three times per week for a total of 36 hours per week, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.

Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
