About The Position

This Registered Nurse position is for a full-time night shift role on the 5 East Medical-Surgical unit. The nurse will work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the comprehensive care of assigned patients. This includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, utilizing critical thinking and communication skills to develop individualized care plans that consider physiological, psychosocial, and cultural needs. The RN will also supervise and delegate tasks to non-professional staff to ensure optimal patient care and must demonstrate competence in age-related patient care. The role involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to provide services in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards and goals.

Requirements

Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma)
High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate
Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire

Responsibilities

Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs according to standards of practice for the specialty or patient population.
Partner with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans, incorporating evidence-based practices and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
Facilitate safe patient transitions to the next level of care.
Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput and ensure consistent, competent, and ethical care.

Coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge-specific education to families/caregivers, evaluating for comprehension.

Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence.
Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
Evaluate and utilize systems to ensure necessary resources and support are met.
