About The Position

This is a Full Time Registered Nurse position in Medical-Surgical (5-East) with flexible hours. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse will utilize critical thinking and communication skills to develop patient care plans, considering physiological, psychosocial, and cultural needs. This position also involves supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional staff to ensure optimal patient care. The RN must demonstrate competence in age-related patient needs and work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve facility goals and standards of excellence set by Riverside Health System.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire

  • 2 years of experience (for $7,000 bonus eligibility)
  • High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population.
  • Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training.
  • Partners with patients and their family to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Incorporates evidence based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
  • Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of plan of care.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patient receives consistent, competent and ethical care.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence based quality care of patient.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations.
  • Modifies education method to ensure patient/family understanding.
  • Assumes responsibility to coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge specific education to family/caregivers.
  • Evaluates for comprehension and documents.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet the patient's care needs.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
  • Evaluates resources and support needed and uses systems to ensure needs are met.
