About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time night shift position in Med/Surg. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, intervention, and education, as well as coordination of care and participation in quality improvement initiatives. The nurse will function as a resource to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff, ensuring a safe and organized environment. The position requires adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. A $5,000 bonus is available for eligible candidates.

Requirements

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required.
BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification required.
PALS Certification required for staff who are assigned to care for pediatric patients.
Requires a 24-month employment commitment.

Responsibilities

Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and recognizes and responds to emergencies.
Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome.
Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness.
Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues.
Participates in orientation of new staff.
Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
Participates in the unit’s continuous quality improvement plan to improve organizational performance.
Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff; greeting them promptly and courteously.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
