About The Position

Ahuja 7th floor is a 36 bed medical/surgical unit specializing in the post-operative care of patients following orthopedic, colorectal, gyn, general surgery, ENT, neuro, and vascular procedures. The unit works closely with Nurse Practitioners, residents, orthopedic coordinators, and attending physicians/surgeons. Patients range from 15 to 100+ years old. The unit is staffed by a Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, RN’s, LPN’s, PCNA’s, patient experience liaisons, and clerical Associates. The unit is DNV certified for its hip/knee and spine programs. Common diagnoses include Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee replacement, Total Shoulder replacement, Spinal Laminectomy/fusions, Bowel resections, Colectomies, Thyroidectomies, and Mastectomies. The unit also cares for emergent surgical needs such as fractures, appendicitis, and cholecystitis. The role provides safe, efficient, age-specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process to assist them in attaining, maintaining, regaining, and sustaining optimal health status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master in Nursing (MN)
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices) (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
