About The Position

Med Surg Telemetry is a 22-bed telemetry unit specializing in general medical surgical and telemetry patients. This includes conditions such as pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF, and chest pain patients, as well as post-operative patients from GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, and Heart Cath/PCI. The patient population often has multiple co-morbidities and complex care needs, with admissions and transfers from ICU, ED, and PACU. The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice focused on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment for healing and wellness. Under general supervision, the nurse provides professional nursing services and patient care in various settings, following the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) and adhering to hospital and department policies, procedures, standards, and practices. Clinical decision-making involves critical thinking and creativity, with a focus on identifying patient needs and implementing appropriate interventions for diverse patient populations. Responsibilities include delegating nursing care activities, providing supervision, establishing and maintaining a plan for nursing care delivery, and ensuring nursing care activities resolve problems. The role also involves performing technical aspects of care competently and having access to medication storage areas as required.

Requirements

Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is required.
Current RN licensure or temporary Kentucky work permit
Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Completion and maintenance of BLS.
ACLS & PALS (or ENPC) within 6 months of hire.
NIHSS within 3 months of hire.
Successful completion of all competencies as identified on the departmental nurse competency grid.
