About The Position

This is a Part-Time, Day Shift position for a Registered Nurse on the Medical/Surgical Neuro unit at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital Milwaukee Campus. The role involves leading the delivery of compassionate, evidence-based care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, and surgeries. The nurse will coordinate multidisciplinary care, monitor and interpret patient clinical status, and empower patients and families through education and discharge planning for a successful transition home.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

  • 7 East is a 32 bed Medical/Surgical Unit that specializes in Neurology & Neurosurgery as well as Orthopedics. Diagnoses for our specialties include: Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Epilepsy & Seizures, brain & spinal procedures, and various orthopedic post-surgical patients. In addition to our specialties, we care for general Med/Surg patients with diagnoses such as AKI, ETOH/Opioid Withdrawal, AMS/Falls, Sepsis, DKA, & CHF!

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of compassionate, evidence-based care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, and surgeries, ensuring clinical excellence at every bedside.
  • Coordinate the multidisciplinary care journey by acting as the central hub between physicians, therapists, and families to ensure a seamless and safe recovery process.
  • Monitor and interpret patient clinical status with high precision, proactively identifying changes in condition to ensure rapid intervention and high-quality outcomes.
  • Empower patients and their families through dedicated education and discharge planning, ensuring they have the tools and confidence they need for a successful transition home.
