About The Position

Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg General Surgical Dept Bring your passion to Texas Health where we are Better+Together Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104 Work hours: PRN “As Needed” Days - Rotating Weekends/Holidays – PRN I requires a minimum of 1 shift per six- week schedule. Department highlights: · Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth · Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team · 36 bed unit · The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics related wound care cases requiring ostomy, drain and wound vac management. · MAGNET facility · Level I Trauma Center

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
2-years experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
