About The Position

This position is for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday day shift 7am-730pm. The Flex Unit serves as an overflow unit and consists of curtained patient spaces with half walls rather than traditional private rooms. Nurses working on this unit will need to be comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where patient volume and operational needs can change quickly. At times, the team will be responsible for opening the unit and admitting patients, while at other times they will be preparing patients for transfer as the unit transitions toward closure. Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing or (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)

Nice To Haves

  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
  • (MN) Master in Nursing (Preferred)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
