About The Position

Halton Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Maternal Newborn unit, focusing on Level 2A care. This role involves providing care for pregnancies 34 weeks and greater, uncomplicated twin pregnancies, and low-risk women meeting specific criteria for Labour/birth/recovery/post-partum (LBRP) care. The unit features dedicated postpartum bedrooms, an operative birthing suite, and recovery room. The successful applicant will provide prenatal assessment and triage, and care throughout labour and birth, including vaginal and Caesarean births. Flexibility is required to work in all areas of the unit, including maternal and newborn care within the LBRP model. The environment is designed to be child and family friendly, supporting family presence and involvement.

Requirements

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
  • Minimum of 2 years recent perinatal experience required
  • Successful completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Provider program
  • Successful completion of the Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour course
  • Current Obstetric O.R. certificate and/or experience required
  • Competency with vaginal exams during labour required
  • Proficient in venipuncture and IVs
  • Current Breastfeeding Certificate required
  • Demonstrated ability to assist and support breastfeeding women

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
  • Must provide availability of a 0.60 FTE

Responsibilities
