About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) for its Hillsboro Long Term Care (LTC) facility. This role focuses on resident-centered nursing care, offering flexible 8 or 12-hour shifts that allow nurses to pick up shifts fitting their schedule to cover vacations, leaves of absence, and call-ins. The position requires a minimum of 3 shifts per month, including at least one weekend shift. The RN will utilize the nursing process to provide individualized care, collaborating with residents, families, and inter-disciplinary teams. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, and may include serving as a charge nurse and delegating tasks to assistive personnel.

Requirements

  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents.
  • Collaborating with resident and family, and other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards.
  • Caring for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Coordinating care, resident assessment, resident education and various other nursing interventions.
  • Serving as charge nurse and delegating appropriate tasks to license and unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Providing adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
  • Functioning within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
  • Recognizing the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
