About The Position

Provides safe, effective nursing care to patients within the OB/GYN clinic setting through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care within the scope of licensure. Works collaboratively with providers and the healthcare team to support patient care, ensure accurate documentation, coordinate testing and procedures, provide patient education, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism across all South Central OB/GYN clinic locations.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license issued by the Mississippi Board of Nursing OR Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in written and verbal English.
  • Ability to work independently and rotate between OB/GYN clinic locations as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification required for LPN; CPR or ACLS preferred for RN.
  • Previous OB/GYN or women's health experience preferred.
  • Experience with Cerner or electronic medical record systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and monitor patient conditions within scope of licensure.
  • Identify patients using approved patient identifiers prior to treatment and procedures.
  • Obtain and accurately document ambulatory intake information in the electronic medical record.
  • Administer medications, injections, and treatments safely and document appropriately.
  • Perform and document Non-Stress Tests (NSTs) as ordered.
  • Perform and document approved laboratory procedures within scope of practice.
  • Route prescriptions and refill requests according to provider instructions and clinic protocols.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals, imaging studies, and procedures.
  • Notify patients of test results and provider instructions and document communication appropriately.
  • Address patient messages and telephone communications in a timely manner.
  • Prepare patients and assist providers with examinations and procedures.
  • Complete and maintain accurate consent forms and clinical documentation.
  • Place orders as directed by providers and follow verbal order read-back procedures when applicable.
  • Review, document, and report patient information accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate and implement patient care plans in collaboration with providers and healthcare team members.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding health conditions, medications, testing, procedures, and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation within the medical record.
  • Demonstrate infection prevention practices, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control, disaster preparedness, patient safety, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Maintain exam room supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies or medications require replenishment.
  • Promote continuity of care by reporting changes in patient condition to the provider, RN, or appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives.
  • Support teamwork, clinic workflow, and staffing needs as required.
