About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery team. The RN will provide comprehensive care to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients while collaborating closely with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure safe and positive outcomes for mothers and newborns.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Active Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) License required at the time of submission.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA).
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification.
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Charge nurse experience preferred or willingness to complete charge nurse training.
  • Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients preferred.
  • Labor & Delivery nursing care.
  • Maternal and fetal assessment and monitoring.
  • Obstetric emergency response.

  • Electronic fetal monitoring interpretation.
  • Patient and family education.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout the labor and delivery process.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to obstetric emergencies and changes in patient condition.
  • Assist physicians and providers during labor, delivery, cesarean sections, and obstetric procedures.
  • Care for patients in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, OB Triage, PACU, and related women's health areas as assigned.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to established protocols.
  • Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure quality patient outcomes.
  • Participate in patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Function as a charge nurse when assigned or participate in charge nurse training as needed.
